Resolved Question: best way to charge my self with static electricity?

I have been researching 17-18th century early uses of electricity for conjuring tricks and entertainers as part of my university studies. One story in particular came up at a dinner party where the entertainer used an early electrostatic generator called a Hauksbee electric machine to charge him self with static electricity and then a spark from his finger lit a glass of Cognac placed in the middle of the table, much to the delight of the audience. Static electricity might not be the natural wonder it once was (more a kids's curiosity) but I thought this would still make a good party trick! The question is how can I subtly charge myself electrically while say sitting on a wooden bench in the pub beer garden. I thought perhaps rubbing rabbit fur might be quite good for rubbing of the electrons... any ideas would be MUCH appreciated! Thank You. Or perhaps utilize the mini Van de Graaff generator in a 'fun fly stick' ?

Voting Question: I need some ideas for inexpensive wedding venues near Vancouver Washington.?

We need an inexpensive wedding and reception venue that accommodates an outside wedding and reception for 50-75 people. While we are trying to keep money, we also don't want to compromise on the ambiance of the venue-which means we don't want picnic tables and benches or to receive married at a grange of some type. Leach Botanical Gardens is perfect but they don't allow dancing and I cannot imagine not being able to dance at our reception. We are hoping for something below $2000 (Alderbrook costs $2500 and that is with picnic tables), and,we are hoping the venue will include the round tables and chairs.

Resolved Question: little, tiny red bugs on my concrete bench by my pond?

i live in kansas and i have a pond/garden area in the corner fence part of my back yard. i recently was cleaning out my pond after winter and noticed these bright red bugs crawling on my concrete bench. i'm not sure what they are or what they do, and at first i thought it may be something to do with my plants, but i don't really have any yet this spring besides my huge trellis that has always been growing on my fence. any idea what these might be? i can try to take pictures of them and email them to you, but they are super tiny.

Voting Question: Is my dad a hoarder? Help!?

There is useless items every around our home and its getting ridiculous! Our dining table, kitchen bench, and tops of cupboards are piled high with things! Everywhere i look i look JUNK! Theres not so much stuff on our floors any more (its every been thrown into my old bedroom). I just tried to toss out his hundreds of gardening magazines that he hasn't read in years that sit on the floor and he got mad at me, then i tried to toss out some folders and clipboards that we never use and he said he'll use them soon. I never have friends over because i'm so embarrassed at how messy our home is. Every time i clean it up within a day or so its back to how it was before i started! My mum hoards horse related things (bridles, saddles, rugs - this stuff has never been used / opened!) even though she stopped riding our horses years ago but its not as bad as dad (she keeps everything in one room) ! Im really scared that our home is going to become like one you look on hoarders :( If dad is a hoarder how can i cease him before our home gets completely out of control! I didn't know what category to put this question in, sorry if its in the wrong one. :)

Voting Question: Mains Power Supply for the HEQ5 Pro SynScan Telescope Mount?

Hi every, I've just received my HEQ5 Pro SynScan mount in the post, and have been excited for this for the past few weeks. Unfortunately, after unboxing and putting it together I found only a cigarette lighter power-supply. Obviously I understand why they've supplied one, but it was still a surprise to have that and not the mains adaptor. I intend to use the mount at home in the garden, and would have plugged it into the mains not the car. The length between my internal wall socket and the patio is minimal and will easily reach. Obviously I'm going to have to buy an additional power cable and need the advice of the internet... After some research I've found various different methods of supplying power. Some range from cigarette socket converters to regulated bench power packs. Honestly, I'm not looking for anything fancy, or complex, and would really like to receive something quickly as I want to start using the mount. Resolved Question: Is this really soppy? I feel embarrassed now?

So yesterday my boyfriend (only just recently got together) took me out. We went to the cinema, round town shopping then to some romantic gardens. It was an amazing day and throughout it I felt like the luckiest girl on earth. He is PERFECTION. I never thought i'd receive someone like him. Anyway we were sitting on a bench, below a blossoming tree. You know those moments when you just wanna freeze time, well that was one of them. I saw two fluffy feathers on the ground and picked them up. I gave one to him and I kept one and I said "nothing will go wrong if we have these." I receive like that sometimes. Where I have to do something or things will go wrong and my brain is like "DO IT! AND EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE!" lol. So I gave him a feather and he looked at me very confused. Voting Question: What romantic thing should I do for my girlfriend when I visit her tomorrow?

So my girlfriend went home for the holidays, she lives about 2 hours away. We are both very excited because I am visiting her tomorrow! I plan on getting to her home at around 11 and leaving at around 7. I already plan to take her to Olive Garden which is her favorite restaurant. She is not the nice of girl that LOVES just opening yourself up completely, and being cheesy (for example, reading poetry or singing to her would be a no no which is fine because I don't like that stuff either!). But I CAN tell that she still likes romance like any other girl! I am not sure if she is the nice of girl that would appreciate flowers.. but she LOVES a bench in a park type moment (which I hopefully will do as well). Anton and Patricia owned Maybrook home from 1996 until May 2010 when it was sold to Faisal. Alongside the plot upon which Maybrook home sits is a big area of open space. Originally, this was used by local kids to play on and people walking their dogs. The area was maintained by the local authority but, in 1998, the local authority forgot to mow the grass and the land became overgrown. The land was cleared of overgrown vegetation and the couple tended it in the same way as the relax of their garden. In May 2010, Maybrook home was sold to Faisal. The conveyance included a clause stating that it included every rights and duties affecting the previous owner. Faisal has continued to use the land since buying Maybrook home as part of his garden. Last week, Faisal received a letter from the local authority stating that he was to vacate their land immediately. The letter stated that, within the next two weeks, they will be commencing work to install kids's play equipment and benches for the public to use. As relying on statutory provisions, and i feel the land owned in question is registered, it requires 10 year period to expire before faisal can go to the land registry to have the title of that land transferred to his name. The Land Registration Act 2002 covers adverse possession for registered land. Thats what i think, I havn't applied the common law part to the explanation yet, im wondering what you guys might receive.

Voting Question: English to Spanish Translation?

My ideal home is in the united states of America and will have the characteristics of a Victorian manor that was eaten by the black cat. It would have 3 floors. The first floor would be underground and I would keep wine here. The ground floor (second floor) would have: A kitchen; Lounge; Living Room; Study; Bathroom. They would every be very big. On the first floor (third floor) I would have a luxury bedroom with grand paintings. Outside my home I would have a basketball court which I would play in with my friends. If It was possible I would have a huge flame in my home which I would burn money on (I take it my Ideal home comes with free euros). My favourite room would probably be the kitchen as that is where the food is. I would adore to be able to relax on a bench in the garden drinking lemonade and eating octopus like a hungry shark. In the room i noticed a very attractive female vampire , my eyes were on her for the begining part f the dream until it looked like she had died and i toutched her on the side to look if she was ok at this point she lashed out at me and i found out she was a vampire . i was scared of her but i still wanted her , and i kept testing her to look if she would bite me . The next part of me dream i left the room and ended up meeting up with the vampies sister and me and the two sexy vampires were at some place i forget where . the girls dad turned up a old wise man who looks like a wizard and said he needed to talk with me so we walked accros a ropebridge and ssaid that he had to keep tem in cages when they were yong but he wouldent say why , we went into a garden shed and spoke more during the time another vampire walked past and i felt a stinge of fear . After that me and the two girls walked accross to a abandand dark land like some deralict land behind a old church where their was a homeless guy who i avoided . I kept testing the girls to look if they would bite me and they dident . They were very sensual and i was falling more deeply for both of them . I was being very sleezy and kepy kissing and grabbing the ass f both of them and they liked it . After being their me and the girls moved on and were walking down the road and one girl went of with some other guy to feed and me and the other holding hands went into a nightclub and she said let me pick up a guy to feed from so she wouldent lash out at me now the vampires turned and were trying to protect me from themselves . They both killed the guys and we every went back to the behind the church area and i was on the bench naked with one of the vamp sisters and she was asking me how much do you trust me , i said i did and she said let me bite into your neck but not to difficult , i said ok and she did and it actually felt good in the dream she dident draw and blood then we started having sex and the other sister joined in . I still felt some fear but i almost trusted them and then i woke up . The whole dream was real like , pretty crazy hey .

Resolved Question: Seeing things before they happen?

Okay, this is going to probably sound crazy. For many years, for as long as i remember (I'm 17) - things have always seemed too much of a coincidence. I understand we are influenced by everything around us no matter how difficult we try not to that affect our decisions. The reason i say this is because often i think of something before it happens, usually something bad. For example, my dad dropped a glass and about a minute before i could look it happening, and it did. Second, i would be talking, and the exact same time the word appears on tv, or on the radio, or in a newspaper, etc. Third, i saw my nan sitting on a bench and my aunt was doing gardening, i could look the branch snapping and hitting my nan, seconds later it did. I could go on, it happens every the time and the list is endless. Last week, i was on a bus and had a odd thought about wondering if there had ever been an accident in the place i was at <- yeah i don't know why. Today, i saw a newspaper, on the front was that EXACT place saying a person had been killed by a bus... 4 days BEFORE i had that thought. I did not know about this incident at every or had read or watched any news. I don't really think about it as it's such a normal thing to occur to me now. I'm not really a believer of the paranormal or psychic powers etc - however my family heavily are. I am also an atheist, i don't know if that is relevant. Does this happen to anyone else or am i just insane? What could be the reason? Really interesting responses! Quite surprised so many people have views on this. I agree with the scientific approach more than anything, deja vu and my mind playing tricks mostly.

Resolved Question: Please tell me what you think of this small part to my story?

Tell me if you can picture this. Once we rounded the corner the trees gradually thinned out. I was able to look a 20 foot, grey, brick wall through the thinning trees. After clearing the trees the path guide to a larger dirt road which was also surrounded by the forest. Following the road we came to a big, dark wood, weathered drawbridge that was drawn over a wide moat. I could tell the moat was deep because the water was dark enough to be considered black. As we crossed over the bridge I looked at the chains that were for raising and lowering it. The chains were thicker than my waist and disappeared into holes in the brick wall. I was speechless and wondering where the hell I was. One thing I knew for a fact was I’m far away from home. If that’s what I were to call my cell and torture chamber. I pushed the thought away, I didn’t want to remember that place. I looked up to the huge archway we were now passing below. There’s a hole at the very top of the archway and I could look the blue sky through it. There were two giant metal gates and a thick wooden door just behind them. The archway opened up and I could look hordes of people below and around cloth tents. below each tent there were tables filled with fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, and flowers. One area had a tiny chicken coop where you could buy live chickens. We travel on the left side of the market area. The first store we passed I could hear metal clanking together. A guy was putting a sword into something with a nice of flame I’ve never seen and another guy was hitting a glowing horse shoe with what looked and sounded like a very heavy hammer. The second store had to have been a clothing store or a place to buy cloth. The third place smelled like alcohol and pipe smoke, must be a bar. A man came stumbling out and while the door was open I heard laughing, yelling, and something I hoped was a belch. I gimised, looked away, and saw that behind the shops were little old fashioned houses that ran every the way to the 20 foot wall. After we passed the bar Rueben led us through an opening in a smaller grey brick wall. That’s when I spotted the main castle. It was the same color of the walls and massive. There were windows every over in many shapes and sizes. I was too sore to look up so I was only able to look the first 3 floors of the building. Stairs guide up to a magnificent red door with golden design in the middle and on the outside edge. I looked to the right at a beautiful garden that ran along the right side of the structure and disappeared around the corner of the building. I spotted mounds of roses, tulips, daisies, daffodils, and many other flowers I didn’t know the names to. You could follow a red brick path which contained a tiny bridge that arched over a tiny rocky stream. The path guide to a white bench with green vines and tiny white flowers crawling every over it. Right next to the bench grew a tall apple tree with plump, green, apples almost ready to pluck. The left side of the castle was wide and open with a few trees both big and tiny. There were worn out paths that led to tiny wood doors on the castle and some guide to an old worn out horse stall. The big red doors at the front of the castle opened up as Rueben dismounted his horse. An old man with grey hair came running out the door. He bowed to Rueben, grabbed the rope around the horse’s neck, and quickly guide it towards the stalls. Niles waited for Rueben to arrive help me of the horse then dismounted also. As Rueben carried me up the steps Niles led his horse to the stalls. We entered the doors and I was yet again in awe of the beauty of this place. We were in a wide hall with maroon cloth tied to bricks that stood further out on the walls. I bet if you untied them you would have to walk through curtain after curtain until you came to the magnificent staircase at the end. There were doors on each side of the wall parallel to each other. A maroon curtain separated each door. Next to the doors were torches mounted on the wall. Please tell me what you think.

Resolved Question: Does this sound like a pretty landscaping job? Any tips?

My family has a tiny patch of grass that is in our front yard, framed by the driveway and bushes. My mom and I planned a landscaping job to liven it up. We have a piece of wood with an old ice skate from fifty to a hundred years ago sitting on it, and an old sled from the same era leaning up against it at the left. Then we have, in the middle, half of a barrel with rusty bands with an old thick saw blade leaned against it, and we're going to nail four horseshoes along the side in between the bands of the barrel. Then at the right we have an old wood burning stove, the nice that stands nice of like a pillar. In the middle of the yard we're going to put stepping stones to a ring of a different nice of stepping stones and on the outside of the ring is some benches made of old boards and stumps as legs. in the middle of the ring is a shallow pothole we will dig filled with blue glass pebbles, then in the middle will be my mom's tiny white statue of a gnome riding on a toad on a lily pad. Leading away from the pond an sprawled throughout the garden is paths made of tiny stepping stones for the gnome to walk on (it's just cute, I know it's a statue). Right next to each bench will be little "lanterns" I made out of half of a cement block and a little tea candle raised about three fourths of the way up. Then up at the front of the yard where the first mentioned decorations are, there will be assorted potted flowers. Does this sound pretty? Any tips? Thank you!

My heart beat a mile a minute, my legs threatened to collapse beneath me, and every breath I took was harder than the last. My world started to receive dark. That’s when the memories flooded my jumbled mind. The one of us sitting in the garden, making daisy chains and sharing cookies and kisses. The one of you waiting for me on the park bench when I was half an hour tardy to meet you and I apologised for what seemed like forever and you simply planted a soft kiss on my cheek and told me you’d have waited for ever. Remember when we both called in sick to work and spent the day lazing around in bed, just holding each other, promising to never let go? I have an 10 Year old Collie Lab Cross, I'd had her since she was 5-6 weeks old (the previous owner didn't want to look after the puppies so we got her earlier than recommended) I was 11 when I got her and I knew getting her when she was so young would probably affect her later, she use to like suck on blankets and did that for years, she's stopped now I've been Agoraphobic since I was 9 years old so I was unable to take her out for walks but we have a big garden which I played with her in daily, lately I've been getting my Agoraphobia in line so my sister and I have been taking my dog out for walks along the beach, from the Moment we take her out she whines and cries, once she's at the water she's fine then once we take her back home she cries again, At home she knows I'm leader, I'm alpha to her but outside she doesn't hear, we tried her with treats but she's like not listening to us Today she broke off her guide and we just had to sit on the bench til she decided to arrive back to us coz when we called to her, she would just ignore us Is there a reason to why she's whining? is she just excited or is there is reason to it, What can we do to receive her to hear to us when we're out walking her? I won't be able to use my nan's garage anymore, so was thinking of building a thick work bench which could fold up in my shared home's garden, but seems this could be tough to make! If it folded up. If he stayed on Golden State he wouldn't have played much being behind Curry (even though he's injured), Ellis (even though he's traded), Thompson, Jenkins, Nate Robinson. And in Houston Kyle Lowry and Dragic would be in front of him. But in New York they have were unstable at the PG position and they play at Madison Square Garden. Resolved Question: What to do with my unused master bath garden tub?

First let me say that I RENT my 1998 single wide, so removing the tub is not an option. My bedroom, sink, and bathtub are every in an open room (the toilet is in a room the size of a broom closet, separate. I NEVER use the space hogging garden tub, and currently it's being used as storage for whatever I need to receive out of the way! (~_^) Does anyone have any ideas of how I could repurpose this wasted space into a creative area?? I've searched the net relentlessly and only arrive across making a bench by putting a cover on a normal sized tub :( PS: I am in the process of creating a tiny art studio are in my room, as my home is too tiny for it to be anywhere else. Resolved Question: Upside down dog in tree?

I had a odd dream this morning, just before I woke up. I was in my mothers garden, she was sitting on the bench my great-grandfather made but was broken and burnt at least three years ago. We were talking and she laughed and pointed into her magnolia tree and I was horrified to look a scruffy dog sitting upside down on one of the branches - literally sitting in the underside of it. It had been listening the whole time. My mum was still laughing so I thought she knew it and even as I thought that my mum became very serious and said "No." and again, "No." I looked back to the dog and even now a shiver runs down my spine. it had one human eye, and it was looking right at me, always had been, I had been watching me and listening from the start. It was not friendy by the way. It didn't move, It made no noise. it just looked at me and I was terrified of it. The dream went on a little longer after that, with me thinking of calling the police, or gabbing a weapon. I woke up disturbed and the dream has haunted me every day. Thoughts? It really scared me.

Resolved Question: Building Downstairs Toilet?

Basically... me and my pal work in a converted garage or someones home fixing computers. The garage is every platerboarded and has solid benches along the walls and is quite a good computer workshop but it's in someones home. So the question is what options do we have of building a 2nd toilet? There's no room in the garage for the toilet so it would have to be outside in theback garden. Of course, that is terrible too, but for some people, including myself, the worst result of an earthquake is the inexorable and disturbing remembrance that is engraved forever in the memory of those who are witnesses. I have the bad luck of being one of those people. Though it has been five years since the incident, I still recall vividly every the details of it. It was a typical morning in our city of Lima, Peru: People went about their daily routines as the cloudless morning sky reigned over the city. The road in front of me was completely deserted except for me and another pedestrian; it must have been 7 o’clock. My hands were shaking with icy as I slackly walked over the rough, gray, dirty, and sick-asphalted paving. My lungs were filled with the unmistakable odor of salt, fish, and sea, carried by the humid air of Lima’s icy atmosphere as I made my way to the nearest bus station, which was separated from my home by three long blocks full of two-story houses with gardens. Sour rain drops fell onto my forehead with every step, forcing their way down to my lips, compelling me to taste their tangy, bitter flavor, while the far away sounds of starting car engines forged a raspy-tuned rhapsody that echoed across the capital. As I watched the smoke coming out from the rubble, like phantoms writhing in anguish, I realized that the city into which I was born, and raised, seemed now like a new place, a new, icy, distant, and meaningless place. Everything silent, everything silent, opening from the heart of stillness, an awful truth blossomed in my chest: This place was no longer the home I knew. And even though my family and my home had arrive unscathed from the ordeal, I could not help but feeling a sense of loss. I felt as if I would have traded the glad memories of my childhood, memories destroyed along with the streets, parks, and the church that had seen me grow up and are now rebuilt in a new design; in return for the dreadful memory of having been a first-hand witness of a frightful and almost catastrophic earthquake.

I dont receive abused physically and I am not a loner... every my problems are towards my family, generally. I think my dad is old and is a party pooper, i swear to fking god. My mom is the biggest liar ever.. My older sister is cocky and a btch, my little sister is so annoying and a crybaby and i swear to god i wanna choke her the most!!!!!!!!! Its every mostly towards my parents. It was my birhday about 5 weeks ago.... Ive been asking to go to this huge , mall type place.. Every sunday, shed say," yes lets go next sunday." my dad would agree as well. Every sunday, ive waited. Theyd always somehow find sme stupid excuse why we couldnt go,and for the first week, id just push it off and wouldnt care, i would be excited in the up coming sunday. Just yesterday, i even woke up an 4. ( i think theyve forgotton it was my 6 week belated bday gift :(( ) and for the past 3 months ive been saving up for something in particular... Ok yesterday we went to church blahblah, i was even glad. So glad and excited i was smiling every dayin church and actually was nice to my two sisters... Sfter church, my mom said where to? I said that ( special mall ) .. My mom broke my heart... She said to go to this close mall..it was rlly tiny and useless , lol :( my dad had work, as usual,... But she promised...i didnt want to sob, but i was cussing at them, i didnt want to but i told her how she lies too much and thats why she always go to church...my dad lied too. Hes old, a party pooper. He always sleeps and stays home, wellof course we went to the closer mall. I left my money and phone at the car and ran straight to the malls garden and sat on the bench for like 2 hours. My family finally came out so i followed them to the car. That whole 2 hours, i was just staring at a blossom tree and looking at the sky, thinking about growing up already, going to college, receive my degrees, and move to japan.. Lol ive always wanted to move to japan ever since i was 7. Well, this is true. When i grow up, sick move to japan, receive a great job, and officially clip off any ties of my family, other stuff happened yesterdsy as well, but i dont care to type it :/ tomorrow is a huge test, AIMS. Now that im a bit depressed ( when we came hme, i ran to the bathroom and cried my eyes out lol..) i dont feel confident on passing the test. My heart is throbbing, and i sob at night now :( i dont care for the mall as much, i just hate why i have to live like this. The only thing i hesistate for killing myself is because i actually want to have a family of my possess and make it the best theyve had, and not make them expierience my painful childhood..full of lies and hurt.. I am planning a landscape to make this spring. Its going to be in a fenced off area of my pasture and I want have ducks in the landscape along with a tiny shed to hold my chickens. Here's the text: I am moving to a new apartment in March. it wasn't an easy decision. i have lived in my current apartment for 2 years. at first i didnt like it, but with time i started to like it so much. and it was very close to my university, family and friends. but as life goes on, many things change. now i am in a different university, and most of my family and friends have moved too. now i have to travel 50km a day to receive to ma classes and receive back home. so i've decided to move. i found an amazing apartment in a neighborhood very close to the university and the city middle, only 15 minutes away. it is on the third floor in a tiny flat. the flat was built recently, has a garden, many trees and benches so i can sit outside in the summer. the apartment was recently renovated. everything inside is new, no one has lived in it. the apartment has a living room, kitchen, one bedroom and a bathroom. so far i have bought only the basic furniture - a bed, a sofa and a coffee table. i still need to buy a bookcase, a tv and a table for it. i also have to buy some furniture for the kitchen. it has a stove, a refrigerator and a microwave, but i'll have to buy a dining table and chairs. also i have to receive a wardrobe and night stands for the bedroom. i think these are every the things i'll have to buy at first. if it needs some other things i'll buy them in time. i can't wait to move to my new place!
