Resolved Question: Would you say it's racist if a dark skinned man degrades dark skinned women's features?
Like if he dates outside his race and says dark skinned women are ugly and claim they don't like their nappy hair, dark skin, and other physical features and says he only dates mixed light skinned women and non-black women due to attraction? Or do you think it's just a personal preference? To me i think it's a preference but it becomes racist when they discriminate and bash them for something they can't control. But that's just my opinion.

Voting Question: What networking equipment do I need for ... ?
I'm trying to extend my home wireless signal to a trailer outside. I want the strongest possible signal without spending a fortune on equipment. My wireless gateway is in the front corner of the home ... the back of the home has a weak signal ... and the trailer (further back) has no signal at every. I would like the whole home to have a strong signal and a wireless and hardwired connection in the trailer for multiple devices. I have a basic model actiontec modem serving as the DSL Gateway. The actiontec people told me that this model does not have ethernet cascading ability with other routers. I also have a Linksys 802.11b wireless router which has cascading ability but can not be used as a DSL gateway (no phone jack). The workstations don't need to share files or printers I know I need an Access Point in the trailer ... as well as a router. My Question: Is there a way I can make my aciontec wireless gateway talk to other routers to extend the frequency range? Would it be easier / cheaper to receive a repeater? What models and features should I be looking for in equpment to purchase? My Wireless Gateway can not be moved from the front room. Family Rule.

Resolved Question: I'm having an argument with my school about parking space?
I came to school today for the first time in my car. and I parked it in a non-allocated space, it's was sort of like one that you would receive on the side of the road but outside of school like the one in the same style as the one in the video which I have included to show how it parks itself and they are saying to me that I can no longer park on school site because I parked to close to other cars which made it difficult for them to receive out. The people parked behind and in front of me were teachers, one psychics and the other Economics. I just think that they are trying to say that I’ve done something that I haven’t done knowing that there is nothing I can do about it. They know due to the nature of the school it has a certain arrogance which translates into the schools staff adopting this omniscient and omnipotent attitude. But when one of my friends complained about a similar issue they were told that if they didn’t like the school rules they were welcome to take their money somewhere else and he could fill the place left by them in an hour of them leaving. Before anyone says that it’s because I can’t park.. I can. Although I’m only 17 I have learnt to steer a manual (the car I steer is automatic) my mum only got the feature of self parking on the car because she admits herself that she isn’t the best at parking and we live in London so its often required to park in tight spaces. Before anyone says that the feature doesn’t work. It does. I have exactly the same type of space outside my home and it left me with exactly 45cm each side of the car. What I'm asking is what can I do about it? I am permitted to park on school property.

Resolved Question: Is there a way to delete all files and programs from your computer at once?
I want to buy a computer from these people I know. The thing is they have kids and so there are a lot of viruses and unused programs on it, i.e. random programs that start when the computer starts and are a pain to close. I want to wipe the computer clean but the disk steer is broken and it is nice of old and does not have any restore feature on the computer. Will reinstalling windows fix this? I'm not to tech savvy outside of programs and on computer stuff. Is there any quick way to do this?

Resolved Question: Does anybody else hate skyward sword?
I really dont like skyward sword, and before you attack me I must note that I adore most of the other zeldas (especially wind waker). I feel that most of the game is padding. I can't stand dowsing, I hate FII (I think Shes called that) she's worse than navi and is so annoying. I don't like how they removed the feature of being able to run while swinging your sword. The dungeons aren't anything special, but not bad. I hate how there's only 3 kinds of worlds. The grass, flame, and desert. What happened to every those awesome dungeon themes? The bird controls horribly, and I much prefer anything over that bird. I don't like how they replaced the huge hubworlds with "mini dungeons". Please don't make the hubworld a dungeon, that's stupid. I hate the new items. They are every close worthless outside of the dungeons you got them in. The controls are fine for the most part. And everything just feels lazily put together and designed. This is honestly one of the worst zeldas I have ever played, and I'd adore to know what you guys or girls think about this game. Again, I adore zelda, just not this game.

Resolved Question: How can I become a more social person?
I have been a loser/Nerd/geek for most of my life and I want to change it. First off I don't have any friends outside of work, I don't have anyone to hang out with after work or anyone that would invite me to an event. I have never had a girlfriend and can't even receive e pal that is female. Now back in high school I was the unpopular kid because my parents embarrassed me a few times and I had some acne issues, but I though once I got older and and my acne and parental issues were gone things would receive better, but it still didn't. Now I look awkward because I'm skinny and wear glasses and have a look that makes me look like a total geek, but I can't control my body features so I just try to be friendly and that still can't receive me anywhere. So what should I do to make friends and be more social?

Resolved Question: Is there a way to limit bandwidth on my network?
OK, I have a problem thats been bothering me for a while. I pay for my internet, but I still live w/ my parents. I'm 20 got a job and I pay for some of my stuff. Saving money and I go to college. But, I do pay for my possess internet. OK, so I lived in my parents home, shared a room w/ my younger brother (i'll call him brother A.) Hes 16.. and I got another brother, we'll call him brother B, thats 18. Brother B is so annoying hes so fu(king lazy.. never wants to go look for a job, he flunked out of high school.. hes just annoying little pri(k.. haha don't receive me wrong but, yeah its one of those things. So anyways, I decided to move in this empty room outside of the home.. its an OK place it'll do. The problem is when I ordered my internet, it was installed in the other room where I shared my room with brother A. Now i'm in another room using wireless feature. Brother B moved into my old room and kicked out brother A in an obvious way to steal my bandwidth! Why else? He uses Ethernet cable to hook up his xbox360 and play modern warfare 3 every day, raging like a crybaby thinking hes the best! I'm like seriously, Im glad i moved out of there but I left my router and wireless machine there.. I noticed when I want to use facebook , youtube or just email the internet goes down way below normal.. and I know its him! i haven't had the nerve to scream, receive mad or yell since i'm not like that. I was thinking perhaps there is a way to regulate the bandwidth and limit his usage.. and have my end reserved for top priority.. that way I don't just clip the plug on him.. maybe in a way force him to receive a job and pay for his possess. So can anyone help me? I was trying out some IP sniffers/ tracers and block or edit the connection.. I went to my routers ip address to look if I can change anything but, I don't know what i'm doing.. help? I'm using a netgear router, WGR614 v10

Changed colour when its outside is hot using thermochromic film. A cup that allowed you to control how long the drink remained hot for and how quickly it cooled. Voting Question: PLEASE HELP I have asked it before but no one answered its simple for android lover?
I am going to buy my first android phone (IOS and Symbian user before) and will use it for 3 to 4 years. I adore ONE X but there is a problem i dont know much about the processor but in youtube comments and some on net says the Quad core of one x is not faster than the gift dual cores is it true or what is the main difference some examples which i read on youtube 1-The fact that you compared dual-core and quad-core and gave quad he upper hand is untrue. Cuz the two krait cores are made at 28mm die size vs 45mm on nvidia. even the early benchmarks talk otherwise. the 28mm lithiography provides for lesser battery consumption and BETTER real world performance.i feel myself to be unlucky getting the tegra cores against kraits. Thumbs so everyone can look! 2-HTC One S > One X IMO. I prefer metal > plastic, and the Krait dual core is faster for any day to day tasks and most apps currently available on android outside of a select few games and benchmarks. It's also more energy efficient and has a longer battery life, an AMOLED screen that is close-retina, and the relax of the features are the same. Oh and it fits more comfortably in my hand. lol 3-Silly comparison: 1280x720 > 540 x 960 pixels But yeah the S4>Tegra3 but that's not evidenced by how 'snappy' it is since the One X has a way higher resolution. 4-The "dual core" S4 beats the "quad core" Tegra 3 in most test, and not by a little either, its silent a big difference. Look up some test. Plus LTE speeds are vastly faster then HSPA+ (Which is the highest Tegra 3 can support). plz help i dont understand a lot of it should i buy ONE X that i adore or a NEXUS or any other dual core PLUS as htc one x uses a HTC sense 4 can you set different wallpapers for different home pages

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of each? Should I look for a different camera altogether? I have a limited budget, 250 or below but would adore to have the features of a slr camera, I plan on taking many outside photographs. I do prefer canon. Open Question: Will someone critique the beginning of my short story?
Thick, hot winds poured through my screened-in window, leaving a layer of the gray salty Atlantic Ocean across my bed sheets. At night the sound of the waves were their strongest, along with the click of my dad’s keyboard. We couldn’t snooze in the humid South Carolina nights, my dad and I. I crept from my room to watch him. Peering through the dark kitchen, I could discern his dimly lit lamp in the corner, lighting the features of his aging face and limp posture. He kept one hand gnarled through dark graying hair and the other infinitely clicking the keyboard, his fingers like a knotted limb on an ancient tree. “Turn around,” I whispered. Never daring to lift my voice, I knew that would deter him from his bubble of biology and science. His newest book concentrated on his collection of minerals. My dad was not himself when writing. Losing himself in science and nature, he grew in intelligence and obsession. I was sixteen and I had never felt more distant. “Turn around,” I whispered again, in vain. With light steps I padded through the kitchen, opening the refrigerator. Harsh fluorescent light poured across the room and the icemaker clanked off the walls. Still, he did not stir. I poured myself a glass of iced tea, and closing the fridge, resolved to drink it in darkness. Even in only the dim light of his lamp, his mineral assortment glimmered in the opposite corner of the room. From my seat in the kitchen I could identify rose quartz, beryl, aquamarine, agate, and his prize: peridot. “Mineral of forgiveness,” he once said. “Anger and resentment will subside and new life, new ideas form.” “You should receive some snooze,” I offered, speaking louder this time. Shifting a hand through his mass of hair, he only grunted in response. Stacked neatly around him, his books were piled according to importance, his favorite directly at his side. Standing against the fridge at a distance, I felt an unwanted and uninvited presence. “I won’t bother you,” I said in a muffled voice. Open Question: Can someone critique the beginning of my short story?
Thick, hot winds poured through my screened-in window, leaving a layer of the gray salty Atlantic Ocean across my bed sheets. At night the sound of the waves were their strongest, along with the click of my dad’s keyboard. We couldn’t snooze in the humid South Carolina nights, my dad and I. I crept from my room to watch him. Peering through the dark kitchen, I could discern his dimly lit lamp in the corner, lighting the features of his aging face and limp posture. He kept one hand gnarled through dark graying hair and the other infinitely clicking the keyboard, his fingers like a knotted limb on an ancient tree. “Turn around,” I whispered. Never daring to lift my voice, I knew that would deter him from his bubble of biology and science. His newest book concentrated on his collection of minerals. My dad was not himself when writing. Losing himself in science and nature, he grew in intelligence and obsession. I was sixteen and I had never felt more distant. “Turn around,” I whispered again, in vain. With light steps I padded through the kitchen, opening the refrigerator. Harsh fluorescent light poured across the room and the icemaker clanked off the walls. Still, he did not stir. I poured myself a glass of iced tea, and closing the fridge, resolved to drink it in darkness. Even in only the dim light of his lamp, his mineral assortment glimmered in the opposite corner of the room. From my seat in the kitchen I could identify rose quartz, beryl, aquamarine, agate, and his prize: peridot. “Mineral of forgiveness,” he once said. “Anger and resentment will subside and new life, new ideas form.” “You should receive some snooze,” I offered, speaking louder this time. Shifting a hand through his mass of hair, he only grunted in response. Stacked neatly around him, his books were piled according to importance, his favorite directly at his side. Standing against the fridge at a distance, I felt an unwanted and uninvited presence. “I won’t bother you,” I said in a muffled voice. For a moment I lingered in the kitchen, hoping for his attention, yet with no response I finally turned away. Outside my bedroom on the beaches of Edisto Island, laughter rose over the crashing waves and pierced my nerves. Happiness seemed an eccentricity; I bathed in my solitude nursing a private grudge. Resolved Question: 180g fill rug (or what would be best) for mid-season (autumn/heading into winter)?
So now it's May and well into autumn and my horse (lives outside, if this isn't the norm for someone) is at the point where he needs to go into a different carpet (currently in an unlined waterproof canvas but this past week the temperature has dropped, especially at night) but I don't want to put his heavy winter carpet on yet (which I'm still not sure on the fill of but it's a heavier carpet for winter). I'm looking at a carpet somewhere between 180g and 220g fill (I've got a few options) and was at the horse store today and they also thought up to about 220g would be good for this time of year, but I was wondering what others thought. I'm trying to go light enough for there to still be a difference when it gets much colder in winter and he goes into his winter carpet, but enough of a difference to make him warmer now and have this carpet as an inbetween carpet, for autumn/early spring or any days in the warmer months when the weather turns terrible and he needs something a bit warmer and drier for a day or two (we had a freak storm at the beginning of March where we had to race around and find every their warm covers). Open Question: Predicting the future in dreams? Can It happen?
Very odd this. About a year ago I had a dream and this guy I used to work with was in it. In real life I hadnt seen him in about a year or so. I woke up, went to work.... and he actually came into my work that day, had a good chat for an hour or 2. Stranger still, 2 nights ago I had a dream featuring this girl who I also used to work with. I used to hang around with her outside work but havent seen or heard off her for at least 4 years. That day I went into work, at 1 point I thought "yea it would be nice to look her pop in today". An hour or so later she came in to buy some things. Bare in mind that was their first time coming into my work since qutting (the last time I saw them). I would put it down to co-incidence but especially with the girl... She could of arrive in at any point in the 1460 days since I last saw her, but she came in the day after I had that dream at night. I dont know if we every have some hidden talent or something we dont know how to use? Or again, perhaps its just me over thinking and it is a co-incidence

Voting Question: Bike parts for my Saracen Manta 1 (2007)?

Resolved Question: Best Used Luxury Convertibles Under 20k?
What are the best convertibles out there right now that are below 20k? And when I say luxury I'm talking about Mercedes-Benz, BMW, etc. I know someone will say "Ford Mustang" but that isn't what I'm looking for. What I want is something like the Mercedes-Benz SLK 280, something that definitely has a hardtop, isn't every "box shaped" (like a muscle car) and is luxury. I don't care if it goes 200mph or if it even goes 500mph. Voting Question: i can't connect to the multi player server in dead frontier !! help?
If u play dead frontier you will know that when u enter the outside area into game play you are supposed to connect to the multi player server allowing you to chat and look other gamers in the game. since dead frontier has changed with their added features like weather and in game music i have not been able to connect to the multi player server. i have stopped playing for a while since that has happened, thinking it was some sort of bug that came with the new added features of the game and i hoped if i gave it some time the admins would have sorted it out!! but it seems that it's actually my computer or internet connection that is the problem.... any proud tech geeks or MMORPG game players that might be able to help me out!? thanks!!!

Resolved Question: Is this a good scary story?
For every of you who saw my video entitled HELP!!!!!!!! believe it or not is not a hoax if you even saw what was there. I was filming a video for my youtube account goomba771, when a sharp burning pain hit my chest and the world appeared to be spinning. I knew this feeling from anywhere I looked to both sides then up I saw the same figure I had seen at the abandoned home, in the woods, and outside at recess at school. It was the Slender Man, a mythical creature which is 8-10 ft tall, wearing a dark black suit and pants and shoes like the ones worn in the movie The Men In Black, He has no facial features at every it is just white where his face is as white as the moon, and also has tentacle like appendages coming from his back that he can shorten and make longer. He has many names but most people refer to him as The Slender Man. This every started one day I was walking home from the bus cease and I stopped to tie my shoe. As soon as I stopped I heard footsteps, then there was silence. I assumed it was my imagination because of watching a scary movie last night. so i continued walking. I decided to cease a couple of more times and it kept happening. By now i was sprinting down the road to receive to my home. I ran into the garage, in which was open slammed the door and locked it. Someone was following me home from my bus cease. I threw my stuff down on the ground and went over to the sofa. I then heard something slam in the garage. I ran out to look what it was. i saw the attic door open with the ladder down, and the attic light on. that wasn't the only thing that caught my attention. a tape labeled Project #1 was lying on the ground. I didn't bother to close the attic door or turn off the light I went inside and immediately put the tape in the VCR player. I decided to clear my mind and go to the abandoned home. When i got there my chest started burning and i was choking on something it felt like. I looked at the walls and saw a symbol which i never seen before it was a circle with an X in it which looked like the Microsoft's Xbox 360 Symbol. but it was in blood and also was the word operator, and help. the pain got worse the longer i stayed so i decided it was time to leave. before i did i looked up and saw the same figure that i did on the tape its head was leaned on its left shoulder and the door slammed and i heard a lock turn. I immediately turned around and left. on the way back i puked blood and vomit. I encountered the slender man many time afterwards but HELP!!!!!!! was the first time i caught him on tape. before he kills me, if he does im going to start recording my every day life to have more proof. This question is long and please take the time to read it. I'll give every stars for a best answer! Ok so the question is, if this is child abuse from my mom and should I tell the police? I've told my pal and he said I should tell the police. I'm a 13 year old (Turning 14 in August) girl living with mom/ brother. I'm not glad with the ways things are at home. First off, my home isn't exactly home-friendly. The bathrooms are dirty/ rusty, whenever someone pees in the bathroom, it's hardly flushed or if my brother doo-doos in the bathroom, it's flushed only once and you still look the stain in there. The sinks are dirty, the mirrors are dirty. The bathtub, don't even receive me started. It's moldy, rusty, never been cleaned. The home is shabby and/ or messy. Things aren't organized and it's lost easily. I've lost few things and haven't find it since. The floors are sometimes dirty. There's a rat in the kitchen that makes sounds at night but it's starting to be less don't know if it died. The kitchen is dirty, the sinks aren't washed and moldy. My brother bed is dirty and the sofa I snooze on is dirty. There's nothing in the refrigerator to drink/ eat mostly. It's also abit dirty. There's stuff spoiling and it's still in the fridge. Anyway now that I've told you the features of the home, let me go onto me. I've sleeped on a sofa for several years. My posture is needy everyone at school told me so. I walk slowly and like a old lady. My sofa is dirty. I don't shower because my mom won't let me. The only way I'd be able to bathe is if I go to a siblings home to do so. I'm dirty to. My hair is dirty because I don't have no shampoo to wash it. My mom doesn't care for my hair and I think it's falling out little by little. I hardly eat because there's nothing in the home to eat/ drink. Only meat products in the freezer but I can't cook that. My mom would leave the home everyday and not bring nothing back for me to eat (Mostly). The only thing I'd receive is cheep burgers from McDonalds. I'd say I'm underweight because I've checked my BMI. I'm mostly at the home alone because she leaves and go to a pal's home. She doesn't have a job btw. I don't have no electronics whatsoever. However, I do have a DSi from my 3rd grade teacher (3 years since I had it) because I've passed the FCAT. Also, my mom doesn't care about my cards or once looked at it or my achievements. I asked her to help me with my h/w and she didn't want to. I've learned mostly everything by myself and no one's ever helped me nor my brother. I've saved up just enough money to buy myself an iPod Touch. I haven't even used it for a week and already it's been taken away from me. My brother just recently took it away after I left it on my sofa for just a minute and won't give it back to me. Idk where it is. She then came and brought a shoe with her and hitted me with it then she sat on top of me. She threated me to take it off or she'd kill me right there in the open.Then people started to notice and immediatly she got off me and made me look guilty, * She yells at me to do things for her. Even the simpliest thing like turning on the pipe, she calls me to do it. One time, I was in another room and she was washing her clothes and she called me. I came and she told me hold this bottle and toss the water like a pipe very slowly. I threw the water abit quick because I wanted to look this one in a life time movie and she was mad. Voting Question: Is this child abuse? ;(?
This question is long and please take the time to read it. I'll give every stars for a best answer! Ok so the question is, if this is child abuse from my mom and should I tell the police? I'm a 13 year old (Turning 14 in August) girl living with mom/ brother. I'm not glad with the ways things are at home. First off, my home isn't exactly home-friendly. The bathrooms are dirty/ rusty, whenever someone pees in the bathroom, it's hardly flushed or if my brother doo-doos in the bathroom, it's flushed only once and you still look the stain in there. The sinks are dirty, the mirrors are dirty. The bathtub, don't even receive me started. It's moldy, rusty, never been cleaned. The home is shabby and/ or messy. I adore cute and handsome blue eyed blond men with that nordic type and features. I think that I would make a mess of my life if I don't spend it with a blonde. I'm a black girl and I live in Belfort in France. Indeed I know that there are blondes around but where? Resolved Question: What's wrong with animals in entertainment?
While doing a search on google, I came across an animal rights/ rescue group website which had different pages against various things they didn't support, the typical don't eat meat, go vegetarian and don't wear fur because it's cruel but two other pages they had on there were suggesting to boycott zoos and circuses saying the animals are poorly treated and used for entertainment. Some groups even protest outside of dog shows. While I adore animals and dislike seeing them being mistreated, I don't find anything wrong with uses them for food or clothing, humans have done this for centuries, going back to the Ice Age. Also if certain animals weren't in zoos or wild life parks, many species would be extinct including the Mongolian Wild horse, Gray Wolf, Bald Eagle and many others. I've been to aquariums and a zoo and the animals look well cared for and like the attention from the people visiting them. As for the circus, there are some that don't follow certain standards, though Ringling Bros offers V.I.P. backstage passes where people can go behind the scenes to learn how their animals are cared for and look them up close. Also once certain animals retire they go to sanctuaries. The only circus type show I've been to that uses animals was a cirque show called Cavalia. The horses were beautiful and well trained. The dvd of the show has a behind the scenes bonus feature showing how the trainers work with their horses. Another thing is I watch dog shows as well as movies and TV shows that use animals. every of them look well cared for and adore their jobs. One trainer said if they didn't have a job the animals would receive bored. For example if a sheepdog doesn't have anything to do outside of herding sheep or a husky doesn't have a sled to tug they will receive bored and take it out on their owner's sofa if they aren't given a job outside of the one they were bred for. I was part of training program and worked with horses, I always brought carrots and apples when I visited them, plus riding them gives both the horse and trainer exercise. But if a person wants to be vegetarian or not wear fur or any animal product, that's fine. Still, I don't receive it. What's wrong with animals being used in entertainment?

Resolved Question: Found a spider, dont know what kind it is.?
This little bugger was about 1.5 to 2 inches long, that's including legs. It had a tiny body and longer legs at a ratio of like 2:1 It was black and fuzzy on the legs. The legs were also kinda thick, but not too thick. I know it was male because of the enlarged mini jaw things. I don't know the technical term for it. The most distinctive feature was that its body was a light brown, tan color. It had a stripe that was almost the width of its body from head to butt. Again I don't know the technical term. This is more for curiosity's sake anyways. Please don't leave an answer with a website link. I already spent about an hour looking at websites for identifying spiders. If it helps, I live in Florida and have already ruled out black or brown widows (no pattern, too hairy), the brown recluse (no pattern, too hairy), and the jumping spider (too big). And it's definitely not a wolf spider because if it was I wouldn't have been able to just put the spider outside. Thank you for your help.

Hi, Can anyone please help me in the case writeup mentioned below as I am in confusion what assumptions and calculations to be included. Thanks in advance Terpend Corporation - Case Analysis Alex Daniel was procurement manager for the mid-west division of the Terpend Corp. Shortly before his company was to install an exhaust system in a new construction project, Alex was asked to compare fabricating the pipe with purchasing the pipe from an outside source. Terpend Corporation, a mechanical and sheet metal contract, was founded over 50 years ago. Although it had a number of branches in North America, the majority of its metal fabrication work was performed in its Midwest facility. The company mission stressed quality workmanship, competitive pricing, and timely performance. A LABORATORY EXHAUST SYSTEM Terpend recently was awarded the bid to provide the HVAC system in a corporate headquarters building that housed a research laboratory. This was a complex project with many nonstandard features due to the specialized use of the building. The system included a need for over 6500 feet of 10-inch diameter, 16-gauge stainless steel pipe. This piping would be used for venting the laboratory exhaust. When the cost estimation department at Terpend prepared the original bid, they had planned to fabricate this pipe at their Midwest facility. A REQUEST FOR COST REDUCTION As the project got underway, the VP of Operations asked Alex Daniel “if it would be possible to provide the stainless steel pipe at a lower cost than the original estimate.” Alex knew, of course, that any reduction in cost must not arrive at a sacrifice of quality. Because of toxins that would be gift in the laboratory exhaust, it was critical that his system be absolutely leak proof. Every pipe run would be individually tested to insure integrity. If leaks were uncovered in the welds, it would require a time-consuming effort to reweld the joints on-site. Alex realized that there were two approaches to providing the pipe. Terpend could proceed as planned and fabricate the pipe in-home, using the lowest-cost, acceptable quality steel available on the market. The second possibility would be to find a supplier who could provide the pipe already formed at a better cost. THE PURCHASE OPTION Alex first explored the purchase option. He did a thorough search of the market, and found that most suppliers were asking from 23 to 28 dollars per linear foot (delivered) for 10-inch-diameter, 16-gauge stainless steel pipe. He was pleasantly surprised, however, to find a supplier who would provide the pipe for $18.10 per linear foot. These suppliers provided the pipe in 20-foot sections and guaranteed the pipe to be sound (no leaks). In addition, their pipe was “perfectly” true (round), a trait that Terpend’s current equipment could not always provide. This feature would reduce the time needed to make connections between sections of pipe and reduce the likelihood of bad weld joints. Although this option sounded very attractive, Alex, a veteran in the purchasing area with 14 years of experience, knew he would have to subject his options to a thorough analysis to ensure a wise decision. THE MAKE OPTION Alex had access to the data necessary for manufacturing cost estimating. He knew that the process of making pipe required two steps. First, a flat sheet of steel is formed into a cylinder through the process of “rolling.” Then the seam is joined in a welding process. For a 10-inch-diameter pipe of 16-gauge steel, it takes about six minutes per piece to roll, including loading and unloading the part. The equipment Terpend had available for this process could roll lengths up to eight feet. The welding process was estimated to take ten minutes for an eight-foot section. The figure the company used for cost estimating purposes for hourly labor rate was $32.60 per hour. An overhead charge of 40 percent was added to the variable costs. Stainless steel sheets were available in 36-inch, 48-inch, and 60-inch widths at any length up to 10 feet, with the best price being $1.80 per pound. A square foot of 16-gauge steel weighs two and one-half pounds. The welding process required welding wire and welding gas. Welding wire cost around $5.20 per pound and .03 pounds were needed per foot of weld. Welding gas cost around 25 cents per eight-foot seam. Many of the lengths of pipe needed in the project were longer than eight feet. Thus, Alex thought it necessary to include the cost of an extra joint (which, for example, would make two eight-foot lengths into one sixteen-foot length) in the “make in-home” alternative. Such a joint required welding around the diameter of the pipe, a process that, with setup, would take around 18 minutes per joint. DECISION- Alex wondered which option would be best. Resolved Question: Developing practice management package?
Hi there-- Just looking for a little guidance here. I work for a tiny law firm, and we currently use a software package for practice management (open/closed files, calendar, phone messages). Unfortunately, we have had nothing but problems with the software (and from what I look online, most customers do). Furthermore, it just isn't designed to do what we need/would like it to do for our practice. SO I've decided to design my possess program to suit our needs to a "T". I've been exploring options for the past week, and would just like an opnion or two (or three, or five...) from people with more experience. As it stands now, I have exported our data into Access 2010 tables (Clients, Courts, DA's, Files). I'm looking to have the following features: track open/closed files (files are linked to a contact, have a court and DA assigned from drop-down list), maintain an office calendar (court dates linked to respective files), have a module of some nice to track phone messages, and document generation (much of what we send are form letters; rather than typing information each time, have court address & client name/case number pulled from tables). I would like this every to be web-based & stored on our server, so no installation is required and it could be accessed remotely. I began to design everything in an Access Web Database, and was very glad with the product - until I realized that it would require purchasing SharePoint Server Enterprise - again, this is a tiny firm, our "IT budget" is not exactly Enterprise-sized. After some research, it seems that my best option is to upsize my Access database to SQL Server and then use Visual Studio to design an interface to do as I wish. It's been a while since I've used VS or done any programming (outside some light web work), but through the years I've never had a problem teaching myself anything I need to know. I guess my question is -- would this setup (SQL/VS) allow me to do everything I'm looking to do? If not, is there a better option? If we have to purchase SharePoint, so be it... but I must admit, I'm a little excited to do some programming. Sorry for being so long-winded, any help or advice anyone can provide is HUGELY appreciated.

If you are against marijuana laws, are you aware of what "jury nullification" is? Jury members do this when they feel that the law is morally wrong or simply do not agree with the law. You can do this too. If you are ever put on a jury for a marijuana crime or a drug arrest, vote "not guilty" even if it is obvious that he/she did commit the offense. This is one way in which you can help circumvent the drug laws. Also feel free to tell anyone else who disagrees with the drug laws about this concept of "jury nullification." Thank You
